CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT! A wedding at St. Mark’s Church is intended to be a act of worship, a religious covenant between a man and woman through which they recognize and celebrate their personal relationship with God. As a service of worship, a wedding is an expression of Christian faith and one which requires careful planning and sensitive counsel.
St. Mark’s Church places a high value on biblical community as found in Acts 2: 42-47 and will normally only marry couples who are regular attendees or members of St. Mark’s Church.
When scheduling a wedding ceremony, couples should first contact Donna Wilson in the church office. She will determine the availability of a pastor for the date requested as well as availability of the space required. Couples will be required to complete a wedding reservation form and submit the completed form along with a $100 non-refundable deposit before the requested date can be reserved. The deposit will be applied to pertinent fees as listed in the St. Mark’s Church wedding manual. Couples will be provided with a copy of this manual.
The church facilities available for wedding ceremonies and the rehearsal are as follows:
The Chapel – seats approximately 50 The Sanctuary – seats approximately 350 The Worship Center – available for larger weddings
Couples are strongly encouraged to use the worship space that best accommodates the number of expected guests.
In order to protect the schedule of the pastor(s) with regard to transitioning to their Saturday evening worship responsibilities, Saturday weddings in the Chapel or Sanctuary can begin no later than 2:00 pm. Saturday weddings in the Worship Center can begin no later than 1:00 pm. In addition, Saturday weddings in any worship space can begin no later than 11:00 am if a reception is planned on the church campus.
One of the pastors of St. Mark’s Church officiates at all weddings held in the church, although they may be assisted by another pastor. If the Senior Pastor is involved in the ceremony, he will request the assistance of an Associate Pastor of the church.
In the case of church members, an honorarium for the minister(s) is left to the discretion of the bridal couple and is to be regarded as a token of appreciation. The non-member fee for the Senior Pastor and the Associate Pastor is $200.00.
During the month prior to wedding date, the couple should arrange for a pre-marriage counseling appointment with the pastor. This is considered a requirement by the pastors to determine that the couple is aware of the significance of the marriage commitment and have a genuine sense of devotion to God.
Please contact Donna Wilson in the church office for more information regarding weddings at St. Mark’s Church.
