Missions

LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE.

Throughout the Bible we are reminded of these essential commands of God. At St. Mark’s we are committed to connecting people to Christ and to one another, and offer opportunities for St. Mark’s members to demonstrate their love both for God and for people.

In Luke 10:27 (NIV), Jesus says, “'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.” In Hebrews 13:13 (The Message), the writer encourages, “So let's go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is--not trying to be privileged insiders, but taking our share in the abuse of Jesus.”

St. Mark’s Church supports local and international missions through the annual budget offering mission trips for those who desire to step out of their comfort zones.

LOCAL MISSIONS
No other expression has the power to convey Christ’s love and compassion as when we unselfishly serve another person. That’s why St. Mark’s has purposely made “serving” one of the essential values of our church. It’s through service to others we experience Christ’s heart for the poor, the hurting, and the marginalized of our community. It’s through serving others we see our own lives change as we allow God to cultivate a heart of gratitude in us.

Homeless Shelter meals
St. Mark's is responsible for providing evening meals at the Homeless Shelter in Burlington on the third and fourth Saturday of each month as well as every fifth Wednesday during the year. Providing meals includes purchasing, preparing, and serving meals to approximately 75-80 people. If you or your group would like to reserve a shelter date for 2012, please contact Donna Wilson .

KENYA MISSION EXPERIENCE
2012 dates coming soon. (For ages 15 and up – adults welcome!)
St. Mark’s Church has entered into a long-term mission partnership with the Ngaamba community in Kenya. Part of this partnership includes annual service/relationship-building trips to Ngaamba. Work alongside the people of this 410 Bridge community, focusing on projects that have been identified as strategic priorities for the community such as water, education, and orphan care. You will have the opportunity to build the bridge between our Church and local leaders, community members, and many children. This will be a life-changing week, serving and building relationships with our brothers and sisters in our new partner community.
