Missions

Are you willing to be turned INSIDE OUT? To go where the action is? To offer a sacrifice of service in the neighborhoods and on the streets of our community? To be the hands and feet of Christ where you live? Do you want to develop a grateful heart, a love for others and a desire to make a Kingdom difference?

No other expression has the power to convey Christ’s love and compassion as when we unselfishly serve another person. That’s why St. Mark’s has purposely made “serving” one of the essential values of our church. It’s through service to others we experience Christ’s heart for the poor, the hurting, and the marginalized of our community. It’s through serving others we see our own lives change as we allow God to cultivate a heart of gratitude in us.

In May, St. Mark’s offered you the opportunity to be God’s hands extended by serving others through a variety of projects around our community. We had over 400 people participating in 45 projects throughout Alamance County. Thank you for stepping up to make a Kingdom difference and share the love of Christ with others!

Our efforts to turn God’s love INSIDE OUT in Alamance County are not over and we encourage you to think about how you, your small group or a group of friends could make a difference in the community by continuing to serve. Here’s how you can participate. Just click on this link to see the list of agencies who are St. Mark’s partners and their points of contact. These agencies have ongoing service opportunities and need a variety of volunteer help. We encourage you to call them today and ask how you can serve!

LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE.

Throughout the Bible we are reminded of these essential commands of God. At St. Mark’s we are committed to connecting people to Christ and to one another, and offer opportunities for St. Mark’s members to demonstrate their love both for God and for people.

In Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT), Jesus says, “I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

In Luke 10:27 (NIV), Jesus says, “'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.” In Hebrews 13:13 (The Message), the writer encourages, “So let's go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is--not trying to be privileged insiders, but taking our share in the abuse of Jesus.”

St. Mark’s Church supports local, national, and international missions through the annual budget. In addition to this support, St. Mark’s also offers mission trips for those who desire to “go outside”, and step out of their comfort zones. As God reveals His strength in our weakness, mission trips offer excellent grounds for such revelations.
